Jeans on the Brain

Jeans...I have quite an obsession with them.
Being a tall girl, jeans can get quite expensive.  You see, I'm picky about my jeans.  They must be 98% cotton and 2% spandex.  No lycra for this girl, no 100% cotton.

It's got to be 98/2.
And here's why:  It just doesn't stretch out!  It's fabulous.

On a side note: girls, don't ever dry your jeans, it does something to the threads and they get thin and stretch out all the time.  There is nothing I hate more than stretched out denim.

My rule?  Hang dry and wear the life out of them between washes...okay, that sounds gross so please wash them when they are dirty.

Denim is the one thing in my closet that I always allow myself to splurge on--I don't splurge often enough for my liking.  If you've never bought a pair of designer jeans, save your coins, roll your coins, and go buy you a pair.  Sometimes if you're lucky, you can score a great pair at TJ Maxx for around $70.  And for tall girls, the inseams generally start out at 34 inches.
FAB-U-LOUS!

Take a look at some of my favorite brands.

(fun fact: this brand was designed in part by Justin Timberlake)

The pockets and the slight "V" shaped seam on this brand sit a little lower than normal, giving your booty a little boost.  If you have a straight build, these should fit you perfectly.  I have more curvature causing the waist to gape a little on me so I just wear a belt.

My theory is that each of the "pocket" styles are designed with a different fit.  Find the pocket that fits you the best.  I love when I find a pair of jeans where there is no gap around the waist band.

I love how creative the R&R designers are with their pocket designs.  Best of all, they know how to make legs look even longer & leaner...and they have perfect waist fit.  Their washes are my favorite.  And boy, do they know how to make some LONG denim.

I'll be the first to admit that I hate Express jeans.  They always stretch out!  However, my sister and I stumbled upon this designer line for Express and fell in love.  We've found some of our best fitting skinnies here.  Express, you've redeemed yourself.  (And they come in longs.)

I could go on all day about denim, these are just a few of my favorites.

I challenge you to just try a pair of designer.  Don't go all trendy and spend a couple of hundred on a pair you'll hate next year.  Start classic.  Invest in some that will last you for years.  I promise you won't regret it!  Make me proud and tear up a TJ Maxx or find a crazy sale at a denim boutique.

What are your favorite designer jeans?

  3. I recently fell in love with Paige Denim & will always have a place in my heart for Gap, Always Skinny jeans. They were the first brand I could find that I didn't have to hem and fit me perfectly (I'm pretty short!)
