Kittens & Cake Day

Today is my last day of work at my first big girl job.

Me and my favorite co-worker, Holly (whose last day is next Friday) decided to have a Kitten & Cake Day to celebrate.
She was providing the kitten and I was supposed to provide the cake.  Unfortunately, the cake didn't get made, but check out precious little Melba!  This tiny little lady is hiding away in my desk drawer.

We may be the only people crazy enough to attempt to bring a kitten to work--how unprofessional of us.
(Seriously though, how cool are we??)

Today, I'm bidding my Director of Marketing position au revoir and am starting a position at a clinic designed to help women make life-affirming decisions regarding their unplanned pregnancy.  I can't even explain to you how honored I am to be chosen to work for such an amazing purpose.  It's a blessing to see a place that is non-judgmental helping these precious ladies in crisis.  They offer so much support for these girls by guiding them in making a positive plan for both her and her baby, whether it be medical services, counseling services or adoption services.
I can't wait to start!

I'd love to get to know you, my readers, a little better...
any exciting changes going on in your life?

Happy Friday to all!

It was all yellow...

Isn't yellow such a beautiful, happy, sunny color?  I'm all about happy and sunny.  I'm crushing on this color right now, but it hasn't ever been my favorite color. However, I've discovered a new love for yellow.  I'm wanting to put accents of grey and yellow in our little apartment.  It's refreshing, bright, and full of life.  I like colors like that!

Oh, hello,

Yellow birds.......

Yellow balloons....

Yellow ladies....

 Yellow fields.....

Yellow flowers...

and yellow husbands...just kidding.

.  .  .

But I cannot wear yellow!
How is it fair that me and my sister are constantly asked if we are twins, yet she can wear yellow and I end up looking pale and sallow?  My skin is just olive enough that no matter what, it looks terrible on me.

Not fair, sister!
(We do look alike, don't we?)

If I could wear these beautiful shades of yellow next to my face,
this is what I'd be wearing...

Alas, I'll be stuck to wearing yellow on my bottom half....
and that's too bad, because I really want to wear it on the top.

I guess I'll stick to green...  You know, I've heard rumors that not everyone can wear that happy color.  So while your feeling sorry for me and my unfulfilled desire for yellow,
I guess I can feel sorry for you.

Random Assortment

It's Wednesday...and this week is dragging on due to little sleep.  Anyone else having a strangely busy/no end in sight kinda week?  So for today, how does a really random assortment of what's on my fashion brain lately sound?

Please, get in my closet.....all of you!
Check these out....they're at Old Navy for just $35.
Steal?  I think so!

This goddess-esque Maxi Dress is from BCBGeneration.
Think I might have to look into this one.
It's only $148, so don't snatch them all up before I can
get some extra money!

I love this dress from Neiman Marcus...
however, it also comes with a $450 price tag.
If you have $900, please, buy one for yourself and for me.

I'll steal this whole outfit.  It's so classic and perfect for this time of year.

This Victoria Beckham is $435.  Again....is anyone generous out there?
I highly doubt the hubs would be okay with me
spending half of our rent money on a pretty dress.

I seriously love this outfit.  It's super bright and very fun.

What fashion pieces are you crushing on lately?

Beauty Faves

I'm a bit of a makeup junkie.  No, I'm not loyal to one certain brand, I think different companies do different things well.  I believe that some things you should scrimp on and some things you should splurge on!

I have a fascination with makeup because I feel like an artist whenever I play with eye shadows and blush.  Sometimes it's easy for us girls to fall into a rut and never try anything new.  I encourage you to give some of my favorite beauty buys a try.  Experiment enough that you don't grow bored with routine.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (buy here)

This stuff is fabulous.  I've used it for a couple of years and just ran out last week.  I use it to highlight my cheekbones in order to create contour, under my eyebrows to make my eyes look brighter, and under my eyes to erase dark circles.  Multi-purpose...who doesn't love that?

MAC Stunner Blush
MAC Stunner Blush

Although I have never been big on blush, I went in for a MAC Consult right before my wedding in September and fell in love with the way this looked.  I've always been a bronzer fan because I think my olive complexion looks better with it, but I've fallen in love with the natural flush this blush gives.
.  .  .

CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara (buy here or at your local store)

I know that Maybelline Great Lash Mascara wins awards all over, but this Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara is my favorite.  It features a rubber brush that easily covers all your little lashes, making your lashes look longer and your eyes bigger.  Don't lie, we all want that.
.  .  .

I'm torn between my foundation.  I guess you could say I have a special occasion/winter foundation and then a summer/casual-around-the-house foundation.

BareMinerals Matte Foundation (buy here)

I love bareMinerals Matte foundation for the summer due to its light feeling.  However, in the winter and for special occasions, I don't feel like it stay on my skin long enough.  I keep two foundations in my makeup bag and still have not chosen a favorite.  Grab some samples because you'll have to decide this one for yourself.

Mac Pro Longwear Foundation (buy here)

This is the makeup I found to use in my wedding.  I can't get over how it always looks so fresh even if you put it on 8 hours ago!  I love that about it.  Be careful and use a foundation brush because you don't want this superstay makeup looking cakey.

.  .  .

Vera Wang Lovestruck (buy here)

I know perfumes mix differently with everyone due to their skin's makeup, but Lovestruck has quickly my favorite perfume.  It's got a floral scent and smells young but classic.  I've tried switching back to my old perfumes for a day or so, but I always miss wearing this.  Try some next time you walk by a perfume counter.

There's a few of my favorites and now I'm curious: what are some of your favorite beauty buys?

Buried Treasure

Time & Place: Saturday evening in the Mobley kitchen
while looking at the checking account.

Z: Hun, what's this $10 from The Bauble Bar?

A: (looking verrrrrry sheepish) I, uh, I won the Buried Bauble.

Z: You whaaaat?

A: Yeah, I won....I found the Bauble.

Z: (still very confused) WHAT IS THAT?

A: Okay, I like finding treasures, and they make me feel like I made a discovery... So I keep buying them.

Z: Yeah, okay.  I'm sure that's what they want you to do. So at the end of the year, you'll be spending $480 on Buried Baubles.

What is a Burred Bauble, you ask?

It's this...

and this...

and this...
and this...

and this...

And if that jewelry is not cute enough, every Friday they send out an email giving you a hint as to where to find the Buried Bauble....
and it's $10, people!

That includes tax & shipping!  Whoa.

They'll explain the easy details when you get your first hint email on Friday!

The past two weeks I've bought the cutest earring.
However, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take a break next week or my precious husband will block The Bauble Bar from my computer.

Although.....I did set him lose in the kitchen last night to taste my huge pot of chili.  I mentioned that I thought it still needed more seasoning.  Much to my surprise (and a ton of cinnamon later), he had a very unhappy wife.

Maybe I will get that Buried Bauble next week, after all.......

Online Shop-aholic

Don't you just love when online purchases work out.
Unfortunately, my track record is b-a-d.
However, last Friday, I was two for two!  Hip hip hooray!

Isn't this shirt cute?  I feel like a referee today.

If you want to purchase it (buy here).

Here's my other successful purchase.
(William Rast Ultra Skinny Jerri Jeans in Stardust)

And now....introducing ultra fabulous grainy phone pictures.
Someone please force me to pull out my real camera.

While still on my online shopping high, I bought these today...
won't they look cute with this shirt?

All I'm missing are these cute bracelets stacked up...
future online purchase?  I think so.

Stay tuned for my newest jewelry obsession............

Lusting....

Ahhh, yesterday was so much fun!  Can we do it every week?

Zach picked me up from work and took me to my favorite Snow Cone place.  I have a strange love affair with snow cones....and even though I'm slightly allergic to yellow dye, I always talk myself into the yellow snow cones.
It's a serious problem.

Then the greatest husband of all times took me downtown to stay in a hotel.  At first, I felt a little guilty for spending money (even though I knew nothing about it) on something like that in our own city, but we had the best time!  We spent about two hours jumping from the hot tub to the pool, just relaxing, having fun, and talking.  And the best part?  This morning, we left the bed unmade, towels in the floor and went on our merry way!
For dinner, we skipped the crowded fancy restaurants and walked right in to our favorite little pizza place.  They had dimmed all the lights and lit some candles...it was perfect!

Now, some Valentines cynics say that we should be randomly romanced rather than forcing our lovers to romance us.  I say, I love Thanksgiving because I'm able to purposefully reflect on what I'm thankful for.  Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ and we still give gifts (and don't complain) and celebrate Christmas.  Holidays, in my mind, are a time to be purposeful in celebrating.  For me the same goes for Valentine's Day--being purposeful to make people feel loved.
So take that, all you cynics!

Back to some fashion!
Confession:

I

However, there's a large problem with this.
There is no store even remotely close to me.
They only time I've even been to H&M is when I lived in Italy for a few months.

I online shop there constantly.  However, there is another large problem with this.
H&M can't seem to make online shopping available for Americans.
What thaaaaa heck?!

Come on, get with the program, because I want to buy you, and you, and you...

Please, H&M gals.  Shop there and ENJOY it.  Cause I can't.
