Superbowl Sunday.

I have this weird love of Superbowl Sunday, I don't necessarily live or breathe football, in fact, I would much rather watch a game in person than on the television, but there's something about Superbowl Sunday.  Several years ago that I came down with a stomach bug on Superbowl Sunday and I think it pretty much ruined my year.  Seriously, when else can you not feel guilty for eating way too many wings, brownies, queso, brownies, cookies, brownies, chips, oh, and did I mention brownies?
Okay, maybe the tummy ache from never eating like that made me feel a tad bit guilty.

This was my weekend:

Saturday morning came too quickly when the alarm went off before 9am.
But the husband rolled me out of bed so we could visit our favorite little breakfast spot before the Memphis Tiger game.

I think everyone else thought our idea was genius and decided to visit Bryant's Breakfast, too.

The line didn't seem too bad, when I had this cute little painting to stare at.

Amazing, delicious biscuits that are so big, you can only eat one!

And we made it just in time to watch these guys beat Xavier by a few points while they were supporting breast cancer.

Sunday, after a gloriously long nap, we ate way too many of these.

And these silly guys kept us entertained with their dancing, karaoke, and comedy all night long...

With all these sports, there are times when you need to pull
out the old jersey and show your support.
(Go Giants?  Go Patriots?  Go Tigers?)
Personally, I like to show my support for this guy.

And since, I forgot to take a picture of how I wore a jersey without looking like I rolled out of bed, I'll let these girls help me out.

The key is to wearing a jersey is:
1.) Full hair and makeup
2.) Cute jeans
3.) Great shoes
4.) Accessorize with jewelry you would normally wear with a cute outfit.

Super cute, huh?

What were your Superbowl plans?

The Scarf Accident

Yesterday, I felt like wearing all black for no reason in particular.  I had seen several some celebrities pull it off quite nicely without looking like they were in mourning, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Pinned Image

I tried on a black blazer with my skinny black pants, but I wasn't feeling it.
So I put on a dolman sleeved black shirt with my black skinnys.
Ahhhhhh, yeah, now we're talking!
But when I looked in the mirror, it looked like I was in mourning...waaaaaah!

So, I rummaged (ie: threw all my clothes everywhere) around my closet because I had about 30 seconds to sprint out the door, meaning I would still have to drive like a mad woman down the interstate to get to work.  Seriously though, we all know that punctuality flies out the door when your wardrobe is in question.

Tried on black shoes.

Nah.  Tried on nude pumps!  Okay, kinda cute!  Little less funeral.

Then I threw on my favorite leopard scarf that I had worn the night before.
I hate buying a million scarfs in the same colors to have different looks.  I feel like with a little creativity, you should be able make normal scarfs into infinity scarfs, etc.  I had my scarf tied and tucked to look like an infinity look but in my haste, I accidentally pulled one of the corners loose.  I glanced in the mirror and HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!  I've been trying to get my scarfs to look like this forever!

The knot needs to be over on the side of your neck, so the point hangs down.

Please, someone tell me I'm not a super idiot for not figuring this out before yesterday

I also need a photographer, cause these self portraits just aren't working well enough.  You get the idea, right?

And just because my arms aren't long enough to get my entire 5'11" body in the image.  Here's the cute bracelet that I was wearing on the wrist that you can't see.

How would you do all black?

Inspiration Station

Yesterday was a little grey here and I hate grey weather so I just couldn't find any inspiration to blog yesterday.  Today, it's sunny and inspiration is back!
Oh, and if anyone out there actually reads this thing,
please say hi!

Being a newlywed means I try to be a good housewife and cook dinner a couple of times a week.  I used to enjoy cooking so much but when it's a must, it kind of loses its fun, doesn't it?  The only thing that keeps me cooking and enjoying it is discovering new recipes.

And since the man of the house is a sweetheart and cleans my giant messes that I make in the kitchen, it makes cooking dinner a little more bearable!

Introducing..............

Dinner Inspiration!  Don't lie, you all need inspiration.

Our sweet friends, Sean & Leah recently visited Jamaica (lucky them) and brought us back this yummy Jerk Seasoning.

So I made a few tweaks to a Bahama Breeze Jerk Chicken Pasta recipe I found.  It really was pretty easy, and incredible delicious.

1/4 a cup of butter (maybe a littttttle too much)
2 minced garlic cloves, a few spoonfuls of jerk seasoning & chicken

Mix some half and half, chicken broth, cornstarch,
oregano, parsley, and salt and pepper.

Steam some asparagus for 6 minutes.

The husband chopped up some tomatoes.

Cooked some bow tie pasta....and here's my tip of the day:
Put a wooden spoon over the pot to keep it from boiling over.

Keep stirring the sauce until it becomes thick.
I added some parmesan cheese because
I thought it might add some flavor.

Mix asparagus, tomatoes, chicken, and noodles in the pot.

Oh my yummy.

Jerk Chicken Pasta

3 chicken breasts thawed and cut into strips
1/4 cup butter
3 garlic cloves, crushed
A few spoonfuls of Jerk Seasoning
1 cup half-and-half
½ cup chicken broth
2 teaspoon cornstarch (add more if necessary)
1 teaspoon oregano
1/4 cup of parmesan cheese
bunch of asparagus cut into 1 inch pieces
1 tomato
3 tablespoons parsley , crushed
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Box of bow tie pasta

Directions:
·        Melt butter in skillet over medium/low heat and add garlic and jerk seasoning.  When garlic becomes fragrant, add chicken (cut into small strips).  Increase heat.
·        Cook until chicken is cooked to preferred tenderness.  Remove chicken from pan and set aside.
·        In a separate deep pan, fill pan 1/3 full of water.  Place a drainer on top of the pan, add asparagus (cut into 1 inch pieces).  Cover. Steam for 5-10 minutes.
·        In a separate pan, cook bow tie pasta according to the package direction.  Set aside.
·        In a pan stir together half and half, chicken broth, and corn starch and space.  Bring to a boil, reduce heat, then simmer for 3 minutes (or until thick), constantly stirring.
·        Stir in the asparagus, tomatoes, and chicken for 3-5 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to blend.  Add pasta and stir to heat through.  Serve.
